Palatka Municipal Airport Lt. Jasper Kennedy "Kay" Larkin
Field (28J)
PALATKA MUNICIPAL AIRPORT, Kay Larkin Field (28J),
owned and operated by the CITY OF PALATKA, is strategically located near the beaches, Jacksonville (JAX), Daytona (DAB), & Gainesville (GNV), and is less than two miles from downtown Palatka, the hub of Putnam County, on the beautiful and famous American Heritage St. Johns River, in northeast Florida.
The airport is located directly off State Road 100 with direct access to the downtown area via State Road 100 and U.S. 17, both, four lane highways. The airports’ elevation is about 50 feet above main sea level with reference latitude of 2degrees 39’ 30.89" North and longitude of 81 degrees 41’ 19.30" West.
A gateway into Florida's inner areas, Palatka’s Airport is absolutely the gem of the City. It features three (3) active runways, 3000’ PVD, 3500’ PVD, MIRL, PAPI, and the 6003’ Primary Runway 09/27, PVD, MIRL GPS, NDB, and PAPI, accommodating 65,000 lb duel wheel landing.
The closure of the fourth runway produced an airfield adjacent Industrial Park. And by joint participation, the City and County developed an Industrial Park attached Business Park. Both opportunity filled parks feature a complete infrastructure of utilities, including Phase III power, accessibility by paved inner roadways and the adjacent County Highway 309C, which not only boarders the Airport to the west but directly connects to State Road 100. Opportunities on the field are tucked within the 54 t-hangars, various storage units, Commercial Hangars, Executive Hangars, and the hundreds of acres available for new development. NOW OPEN is the new, all inclusive, FBO/Terminal Building, providing additional opportunities such as new Office Suites and the new Conference Room.
The Airport’s location within the state of Florida is complimented by the surrounding infrastructure of State highways and nearby U.S. highways and interstates.
